The African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN) has celebrated the 1 st World Malaria Day in a grand style. Four of its member countries, namely, Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal and the Gambia organised series of activities to draw the world’s attention to the fact that malaria can be eradicated. In Accra, three-day workshop was held from 23 rd to 25 th of April. It was a combination of field trips and a Malaria Forum, under the theme: “Malaria- a disease without borders: Any connection with other Preventable Diseases?” Twenty journalists from both private and public and also print and electronic media houses were in attendance. The Malaria Consortium, Mozambique collaborated with AMMREN in Ghana to ensure the success of the celebrations The climax of the celebrations was the Malaria Forum which brought together scientists from leading research institutions in Ghana and journalists to dialogues on latest. Also in attendance were a representative of the Malaria Consortium, Mozambique and two journalists who were in Ghana as part of winning awards for malaria reporting.
