The March to Kigali is led by a group of like-minded CSOs (Civil Society Organizations) representing a range of Francophone and Anglophone African nations. It builds on the existing partnerships and platforms of the No to NTDs and Zero Malaria Starts with Me campaigns.
It intentionally targets non-Commonwealth countries in West Africa, such as Guinea, Senegal, Benin, and Burkina Faso, and in doing so ensures that the advocacy potential of the summit is not limited to Commonwealth Africa
The CSOs leading the campaign are engaging decision makers at the national and sub-national level to promote the malaria and NTD elimination agenda, as well as working with National Malaria and NTD Programs to facilitate a stronger collaboration and integrated approach to tackling these diseases. Already in Guinea and Senegal a formal agreement has been signed between the two programs.
To date, almost 300 organizations and individuals have signed the “March to Kigali” call-to-action.
